426 years ago today, 160 thousand men, warriors, faced off against each other in what would become the greatest, bloodies and most decisive of all samurai field battles, The Battle of Sekigahara. The contest began around 8am, and around seven hours later, an estimated 30 thousand samurai lay dead.
I’m having to work in Takayama today, and won’t be visiting the Sekigahara battlefields, but on this day, October 21, 1600, Japan changed direction, and the Tokugawa period was ushered in.
My non-fiction book, the most detailed in English is available from all booksellers. Enjoy. CHRIS GLENN.
